安徽肥东六家畈村人。清朝淮军将领，振威将军。

曾随刘铭传赴台湾省，为保卫祖国的宝岛作出了贡献。

其孙吴廷纪将军，中国国民党少将兵站总监加中将衔，对八路军物资供给方面给予不少的支持。
