马尔波罗，英国统帅。1672～1673年随英国远征军参加英荷战争，立有战功，晋男爵。1688年晋伯爵。曾以谋叛罪入狱。1702年被英王安娜重用，任大陆英军司令。1704～1709年在布伦海姆、拉米伊、奥德纳尔德、马尔普拉等会战中，先后屡挫法军。一度被免职，侨居国外。1722年卒。
