隋炀帝大业元年（605年），废清泰县并入平兴县。唐武德七年（624年），复置清泰县，仍属肇庆市。到李世民贞观十三年（639年），又废清泰县并入平兴县。

杨坚开皇十一年（591年），置梁泰县(原梁泰县），治清泰都(高明区仁和镇），属端州。
